Bunk House Retreat

Wittingly dubbed “The Bunkhouse” this one room hunters retreat offers all the amenities, there is no roughing it here. As you enter into the living room it quickly morphs into an entertainment reclining area with the sleeping quarters flanking the sitting area. The kitchen and restroom just off to the other side complete the space. The full-size log beds are sturdy and ready for guests to plop down after a long day hunting. But first, enjoy dinner at the log table with seating for four in ladder back chairs. Leather recliners are positioned for viewing the flat screen tv and custom blinds behind block out any unwanted light. With finishing touches throughout guests are sure to feel at home.

Midwest Warmth

Midwest Warmth

There is no need to find a new house when all you need is an update to make your current home just what you envision. From floor to ceiling this home makeover created a warm atmosphere with lots of raw texture. The entryway leads to a seating area for reading with a desk and printer for work which opens directly into the dining room followed by the living room. The position of the furniture creates definitive areas for each activity without the need for walls or separators. The same warm brown textured flooring runs lengthwise throughout the open space with custom windows and drapery created by the Montgomery’s workroom team. Natural fabrics of the rugs and hides add texture to the floor and pull in the texures of the furniture. On the living room sectional you’ll find custom created throw pillows from our work room paired with coordinated sofa pillows. This home is an exemplary example of warm textures making a house feel like a home.

After losing their home and belongings in a house fire the B Family came to Montgomery’s in Watertown with the goal of making their new house feel like a home. Mimicking areas they loved in their previous home but injecting a different look made it comfortable for both the family and guests. It was important to the family to create ample seating and you’ll find obvious areas in the living rooms with sectionals, but also the seating nook off the kitchen and custom stools around the kitchen counter. Our design team also worked with the family to provide custom window fashions, mattresses, art, accessories, and the majority of the furniture. It was our pleasure to help the B family make the house a home.

Lakeside Living

Lakeside Living

Shall we go outside or stay in? A dilemma for the owners of this lakeside retreat. The Madison Montgomery’s design team worked with the builder to select the flooring, lighting, and window fashions. The flooring includes carpet in the main living areas and bedrooms, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, and in the lower level a luxury vinyl plank was selected as it is an easy surface to clean after a day on the lake. Hunter Douglas window fashions were installed throughout the home including soft fabric roman shade with power view controls. The controls allow the resident to raise and lower one or all of the shades with the touch of a button.

Our team enjoyed furnishing the home to complete the look. They selected easy clean fabrics, rich materials, and subtle patterns. The seagrass chairs in the dining room are repeated in the seagrass vase in the living room. An upholstered bed in the master bedroom in a king size was used to scale the oversize room which still had space for a reading corner and multiple dressers. This home is ready for a worthy resident thanks to a great builder. Lee Schelling, thank you for working with us.

Window Fashions Natural and Efficient

Window Fashions Natural and Efficient

When designing a well-appointed living space, one of the most important, but often-overlooked elements to consider are the window treatments. Beyond the aesthetic luxury that coverings bring, proper window treatments are also Energy Efficient and can provide a host of mental and physical health benefits.

With the discerning selection of construction materials, window treatments can be a long-lasting and sustainable home element that speaks to our desire to live “Green”, while also curating a well-designed living space. Custom blinds, shades, and curtains that are engineered to optimize the natural light in a room also reduce the need for artificial lighting, resulting in cost and energy savings.

Proper exposure to natural light can also have a profound effect on our physical and mental health. Appropriate filtration of sunlight through the use of window coverings not only ensures UV-ultraviolet protection within our homes, but can also elevate moods, increase energy and productivity, and has been known to improve blood circulation, accelerate wound healing, and assist in pain management.

But above all, window treatments provide the “finishing touch” to any room. From a functionality standpoint, coverings provide privacy, while also creating a sense of warmth, security, and comfort. Aesthetically, blinds, shades, and curtains can help dictate the overall look of a room. They infuse a space with color, sophistication, and a defined style that all contribute to a finished space.

Simply put, a room without proper window treatments is simply incomplete.
