Design Pulse: Behind the Design - A Look Inside Our Stunning Home Show Booth
Every February, the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire transforms the Sioux Falls Convention Center & Arena into a home inspiration haven. From landscaping ideas to interior design trends, it’s a must-see event for anyone looking to refresh their space. If you missed this year’s Home Show, don’t worry—I’m giving you an exclusive inside look at the inspiration and design process behind our booth!
I was beyond excited to curate some of my favorite pieces to showcase. The first step? Choosing a color palette that would set the tone for the entire space. Right now, earthy, warm, and inviting hues are taking center stage, so I built the design around those rich, natural tones. Once the color scheme was set, I selected key furniture pieces to define the style—an eclectic mix that blended different influences, all tied together through color and texture.
At the booth’s entrance, the statement piece was a stunning, elegant sofa with a modern twist—its classic silhouette anchored the entire design. To complement it, I chose high-mountain swivel chairs with floor-length fringe, adding a playful yet sophisticated touch. The cocktail table, a live-edge wood slab with sleek metal legs, grounded the space, while a vibrant traditional rug, a handmade papier-mâché vase, and a bold contemporary art piece brought it all to life.
The home office setup featured striking statement pieces, including a showstopping desk and a sleek swivel chair. I kept the color focus on rich wood tones and black, pairing a black metal bookcase with glass doors against crisp, modern white accessories for a bold contrast.
The second seating area leaned more modern but remained warm and inviting. A caramel leather high-leg sofa paired beautifully with earthy green accent chairs, while an onyx cocktail table—capable of glowing from within—added an unexpected element. A brown-and-white cowhide rug and green and cream accessories tied the look together seamlessly.
Just across from this space, the bedroom setup echoed the same color palette. A leather bed with a tonal wood frame created a cozy foundation, dressed with an earthy green quilt, a soft boucle throw, and layered textural accent pillows. A carved wood panel served as a statement art piece, adding depth and dimension.

The bar area was a true blend of all the textures and tones from the rest of the booth. A rustic wood bar wrapped in corrugated metal provided the perfect contrast to caramel leather barstools and a traditional rug. A teak root pub table with matching stools introduced an organic, casual feel, while black bookcases displayed a curated mix of sculptures and vases that tied everything together.
Best of all? Every piece in our booth—including the lighting—is available at our Sioux Falls location. We can’t wait to dream up another show-stopping booth next year, and our talented designers are ready to help you create a stunning space of your own!
